  29. Due to the very low utilization of the Icon mailing list, it is being
  30. discontinued.  After December 15, 2003, the Icon mailing list will no
  31. longer exist.  After that date, submissions to the list and requests to
  32. join the list will answered with email explaining that the list has been
  33. retired and pointing the sender to the Icon newsgroup.

  35. If you are interested in maintaining a presence in the Icon community,
  36. we recommend that you follow discussions in the Icon newsgroup,
  37. comp.lang.icon.

  39. In the past, mail to the mailing list was also posted to the newsgroup,
  40. and posts to the newsgroup were sent to the mailing list.  Now there
  41. will simply be one avenue for gathering information rather than two.

  43. There are numerous options for reading news groups.  Netscape, Mozilla
  44. and Outlook Express include news reading functions, and some ISPs may
  45. provide their own news reading applications.  To use a news reading
  46. application, you would have to configure your news reading application
  47. to interact with a news server provided by your ISP.  You can also get
  48. to newsgroups via a web-based news server such as groups.google.com.
